| The Patagonia Fire department works with it's sister station, Hermitage Fire, closely on all emergencies that might arise within the city. The water rescue team is a joint effort between both stations funded by their shared relief association. As with any discipline in the emergency field, water related emergencies require an extensive amount of specialized training and equipment. In the past both departments maintained two small aluminum boats for all water related emergencies. It had become clearly evident that a large investment in training and equipment was needed. The departments decided four years ago to completely overhaul their water capabilities. The departments devloped a Scuba and updated their water rescue equipment. Two zodiac swift water rescue boats, a 24ft enclosed trailer and Ford F-250 to haul it were purchased and placed in service. Most importantly under the direction of Chief John Flynn the surrounding communities have joined in and now the working relationship with the City of Sharon and others has greatly improved. There are numerous items that are in this years budget and that are budgeted down the road to continually improve and enhance our capabilities with equipment and training. |
